At BE, we place the highest priority on protecting the integrity of all of your data, whether that data tells us about your products, your transactions or you. BE has appointed a Chief Privacy Officer to ensure that all the appropriate safeguards are in place to protect the personal information of employees and of customers according to Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act.

Because we gather information about the users of our website, we feel you should fully understand the terms and conditions surrounding the capture and use of that data. This privacy statement discloses what information we gather, how we use it, and how to modify it.

Information our company gathers and tracks
BE gathers two types of information about its website users
· data that users provide through voluntary info request on our site
· aggregated site usage information derived mainly by tallying page views throughout our site.

Such information enables us to better tailor our content to readers' needs and helps us understand the demographics of our audience.

BE does not share information about individual users with any third party.

BE gathers user information in the following processes:

Requesting information
BE wants its website visitors to learn about our systems, our products and our company. All pages are available for you to view. If more information is needed, we ask you to fill out an "info request" form on our "Contact Us" page. This form allows you to indicate which BE products you would like to learn more about. Once BE receives this form, a company representative will contact users to provide more information.

Electronic newsletters (Dispatches)
BE may offer free electronic newsletters to those who have made an "info request." You may choose to be included in our company mailing list by checking the appropriate box on the info request form.

Surveys
Occasionally, our company may conduct user surveys to better target content and services to our audience. Our company may, at its discretion, share the aggregated demographic information in these surveys with our vendors and other business partners. We do not share any information about specific individuals or companies with any third party.

Usage tracking
Through our website host company we track user traffic patterns throughout the site; however, we do not correlate this information with data about individual users. Our company does segment overall usage statistics according to a user's domain name, browser type, and MIME type by reading this information from the browser string (information contained in every user's browser).

Cookies
A cookie is a small data file that some web sites attach to users' hard drives when they visit the sites. A cookie file can contain information, such as a user ID, which the site uses to track the pages users visited. The only personal information a cookie can contain has to be supplied by the user.

A cookie can't read data off a hard disk or read cookie files created by other sites. Our company uses cookies to track user traffic patterns (as described above) and when they click on various links and promotions throughout the site. When users register, our company uses a cookie to store the user ID. We do not store passwords or any personal information. We use this ID to identify users anonymously in our database and to track the pages they visit on our site. Cookies also enable users to enter various parts of our site as a member without having to log on each time, and to visit member-restricted areas of the site.

Users must have cookies enabled to use our Resource Library.

Use of the information
BE uses any information voluntarily given by our users to enhance their experience on our site, whether to provide interactive or personalized elements on the site or to better prepare future content based on the interests of our users.

As stated above, BE uses information that users voluntarily provide to contact those users. Occasionally, BE may send out special communications when we think users might be particularly interested in a new promotion. BE does not share newsletter mailing lists with any third parties, including customers or partners. We use tracking information to determine which areas of our site are most (and least) popular based on traffic to those areas. BE does not track what individual users read, but rather how well each page performs overall.

Sharing of the information
BE uses the above-described information to tailor our service to suit the needs of our users. This is essential to making our service the best it can be. We do not share information about individual users with any third party.

Opt-out policy
BE gives users options wherever necessary and practical. Such choices include
· Opting to stop receiving our electronic newsletters by returning the e-mail newsletter with an unsubscribe request; users may also telephone or fax any unsubscribe request; and
· Opting not to participate in certain interactive areas, which completely alleviates the need for our company to collect any information from our users.
:
Correct/update policy
BE offers users the ability to correct or change the information collected when they participate in the interactive portions of our site. Users may change this information at any time and as often as necessary by contacting us at

Delete/deactivate policy
Users may unsubscribe to any of our electronic communications at any time by following the instructions contained at the end of every communication. At any time, users may contact an administrator and ask that they be removed from the system.

Our company privacy/security procedures
To protect user data from loss, misuse or alteration, our web server security is implemented through a variety of Windows NT, Active Server Pages, and SQL Server authentication. The office network is protected via a standard proxy firewall. All company data is stored on a central office server protected via the firewall, and the data is backed up nightly.

Employee compliance
BE employees and those of our web site host company are provided copies of this privacy statement at the start of their employment. They are required to initial and sign this statement to ensure their compliance. BE employees and those of our web site host company are notified via e-mail about any subsequent modifications to this statement.

Changes to this statement
We will also post any changes on this page so that users are always aware of the information that we collect and how it is used.
