New BE surface winder

BE (Brampton Engineering) new surface winder enhances operator safety while winding top quality rolls at speeds to meet customer demands. A touch screen interface controls (through a PLC) all the parameters of the winder such as tension, speed, set point and taper.

When anyone enters the area in front of the new surface winder, a presence-sensing device stops all hazardous motion such as cutover and indexing.Lexan safety side guards prohibit anyone from reaching into the winder. The new winder also provides easy access for cut-off knife replacement. An enclosed box houses the knife mechanism at home-position. Opening the box freezes the knife in position for servicing.

The new BE surface winder provides roll face widths of up to 3400mm (134 inches) and wound roll diameters up to 1500mm (60 inches). The winder can accommodate 75mm (3 inch) or 150mm (6-inches) cores.

Standard features include taper tension, bowed spreader roller, load cell tension feedback. Optional features include driven bowed spreader roll, composite air shafts, hydraulic unload of finished rolls, in-feed nip, S-wrap cooling section.
