I-Flex™ family delivers the best gauge, flattest film 2004/05
Brampton Engineering (BE) recent focus has been to provide
methods for customers to produce flat film i.e. with improved gauge
control. Bud Smith, President and CEO of BE says, "With our new I-Flex™
family of gauge controls we provide every possible way to effectively
control gauge. The choice of an appropriate gauge control system depends
on the application. The newest member of the family is the I-Flex™
Heated Lip. It is suitable for most conventional blown film processes."
This Ingenious and Intelligent family of gauge controls provides Immediate
results - film with consistent gauge. The I-Flex family allows processors
to save on material costs and to produce superior quality film. The
family includes:
I-Flex™ Heated Lip provides a localized heated lip system which
reduces heat migration between zones; extends dwell time and yields
optimal control at elevated rates. This gauge control option is a
PC-based system. A PLC is used to control the on-off cycle for the
heaters thus ensuring consistent heat to each zone to produce flat
film.
I-Flex™ AutoGauge Lip is successfully used around the world
for low blow up ratio applications and on BE's AquaFrost™ line. Using
a gauge plot, a rapid response algorithm determines what gauge adjustment
is required. Mechanical actuators physically distort the die lip (push
or pull) at any one of the actuator locations. There is an average
of one actuator per inch (25mm) of die lip circumference. The I-Flex
lip provides direct and reliable gauge control.
I-Flex™ AutoGauge Air Ring can be installed on any low stalk
blown film line configuration. Installation is simple, either as part
of a new blown film line or as a retrofit to an existing line. Response
time of the system is extremely fast, and depends primarily on the
speed of rotation of the gauge sensing heads.
All members of the I-Flex family provide a robust user-interface which
can be run on a stand-alone computer or is integrated with BE's ITALYCS
software. The software provides effective graphical statistical capabilities.
