(Booth 17A22, K2007, Messe Dusseldorf,) Bud Smith, president and CEO of BE (Brampton Engineering) announced today that BE has sold another AquaFrost® line. “While we are eager to protect the confidentiality of our customer, we want the marketplace to realize the significance of the sale of our 9th AquaFrost line,” says Smith. BE has already placed AquaFrost lines in Europe, South Africa, the Americas, China and the Middle East.
BE introduced the AquaFrost concept at K2001 and since then has successfully brought it to market. It is now fully commercial and the proof is in the film. At K2007 visitors to booth 17A22 can see AquaFrost film samples that demonstrate the clarity and softness of the film.
AquaFrost is a downward blown waterquenched process that utilizes up to 50% less floor space and produces 10-15% less scrap than a comparable cast line. The line can operate up to 2.1kg/hr/mm of die diameter (37lbs/hr/inch of die circumference), which is over two times the rate of conventional blown film and competitive with cast film rates.
The blown film orientation of AquaFrost gives the film balanced mechanical properties, permitting the use of less expensive resins than required in cast. Its high heat transfer rate minimizes the time the melt spends in the critical crystal-growth stage, producing a film with superb clarity and softness that is ideal for deep draw thermoforming applications. This rapid quench also allows the utilization of more cost effective PA and PP resins compared to conventional blown film, with the benefit of a softer film with better optical properties.
Customers can book trials on the 9-layer AquaFrost line at BE’s Film Technology Centre in Canada. Within the environment of a personalized and dedicated trial, customers can experience for themselves the capabilites of the process and virtues of the film it produces.
BE is the world leader in multilayer blown film systems. BE equipment is manufactured at its ISO registered plant in Canada. BE trademarked products include SCD®-3 die, ITALYCS® control systems, AquaFrost® and I-Flex® gauge control systems.
