(Booth 17A22, K2007, Messe Dusseldorf) Bud Smith, president and CEO of BE (Brampton Engineering) announced today the sale of an 11-layer line to a significant player in the blown film market.
The sale announced today, a first in blown film history, was made to an experienced and well respected processor with a worldwide reputation. The undisclosed BE customer has a particular market in mind for an 11-layer film.
With multilayer capabilities processors harness the properties of many resins to produce a superior package. Depending on the application, different resins are targeted to specific layers to make the same package at a lower cost or a better package at the same cost. More layers give processors the added flexibility to control the performance and cost of the end product.
“Our competitors are now trying to develop an efficient and flexible 9-layer die to compete with our SCD®-3, but no other machine manufacturer can match our experience and performance in the 7, 8, 9 and 10-layer market. We have approximately seventy-five 7 – 10 layer lines producing film in the global marketplace, of which fifteen are 9-layer and two 10-layer. Processors looking for experience in multilayer film recognize the advantages of working with an equipment manufacturer who has the know-how and a track record well beyond seven layers,” revealed Smith.
