(February 9, 2006, Brampton, Ontario, Canada) Philip Kwok, Vice President of Sales at BE announced that BE has sold an 8-layer AquaFrost® line to J&A in Suzhou, Jiangsu, China. Kwok said, "J&A is the largest barrier film producer in China and has always been a market leader in using the latest and most sophisticated technology to produce blown film. They already have three BE blown film lines. J&A studied our 5-layer AquaFrost® line in our Blown Film Technology Center and observed it in operation. They understand how they can benefit from our new AquaFrost® technology."
Madame Xuewen Gao, General Manager of J&A says, "we want to produce film with high clarity and the ability to thermoform. The AquaFrost® output rates are competitive with the cast process and it will produce very little scrap. These two factors alone add significant value to the operation of an AquaFrost® line."
AquaFrost® is a downward blown water-quenched blown film process which uses all the same components of a conventional blown film line, except that they are upside down. An AquaRing is used to cool the film. The film produced by this process is suitable for applications such as packaging of fresh, frozen and processed meats, cheese, fish, seafood and pasta.
