The proof is in the film

(June 15, 2007, Brampton, Ontario, Canada) At K2007 BE interactive multimedia displays will show Aqua Frost® and conventional blown lines. Visitors will also be able to see and feel a wide variety of multilayer barrier films that demonstrate the capabilities of BE blown film systems. The proof is in the film. BE will be exhibiting at Booth 17A22.

AquaFrost® is the downward blown water-quenched process that BE introduced at K2001. The first commercial AquaFrost lines started up in early 2005. Now, there are eight lines installed and operating around the world. These lines make the exceptionally clear film at output rates that compete with cast film lines. Processors are realizing significant scrap savings over conventional films because they can run AquaFrost®  without trim. The unit film manufacturing cost is 15-20% lower than cast film. Applications for AquaFrost® film include barrier food and medical packaging in addition to deep draw thermoformed packages.

Conventional and AquaFrost® lines use the SCD®-3 stackable modular die or pancake die which is responsible for enabling the manufacture of multilayer 7-10 layer film.  The short polymer residence time in the streamlined passages on the die plates and effective temperature isolation between the layers of the die are some of the unique characteristics of BE’s die technology. The SCD provides unmatched flexibility for processing a wide variety of polymers in diverse structures.

ITALYCS®-4 control system has moved blown film operation from an art to a science by providing operators with an integrated system which monitors, manages and controls all the line variables to produce product with consistent specifications.

The BE I-Flex family of gauge controls includes the Heated Lip and Flex-Lip. They deliver precise gauge control to allow processors to save on material costs and produce superior film. The I-Flex family is Intelligent and Ingenious and produces Immediate results.

Bud Smith, President and CEO of BE says, “While ‘Turning vision into business’ is the theme for K2007, this statement also describes the BE commitment to Research and Development. BE has a production scale 9-layer AquaFrost line and a conventional 9-layer line at its Film Technology Centre locations in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. We use these lines to perfect new technology and to help customers develop new products.”

BE technology produces the clearest and flattest blown film. BE die design coupled with one-button start-ups and the best roll handling available in the marketplace make BE a world leader in blown film machinery and the leader in multilayer blown film systems. SCD-3, AquaFrost, ITALYCS, IFLEX are registered trademarks of BE.
