BE wins 2007 Outstanding Business Achievement Award
(May 3, 2007, Brampton, Ontario) On May 2, 2007 BE received the Outstanding Business Achievement Award in the Advanced Manufacturing Category. In accepting the award, Bud Smith, President and CEO, recognized the contribution all employees made toward earning this prestigious award, especially that of Bill Wybenga, Technical Director and founder of modern BE.

Mayor Susan Fennell of the City of Brampton and Wayne Waters, President of the Brampton Board of Trade, presented the awards at a gala event at the Rose Theatre in Brampton. A team of judges from the local business and academic community selected the winner at the 11th annual awards event.
BE is an innovative Brampton-based original equipment manufacturer for the flexible packaging industry. From its first sales to Europe and South America in the late 1970s, BE has grown to be a significant player in the global market. In 2000, BE opened a sales and service office in China where it has installed 14 blown film extrusion lines. BE China is located in Suzhou. BE has a joint venture, Mamata Brampton Engineering (MBE), based in Ahmedabad, India.
BE has consistently introduced new products to the marketplace to enhance the manufacture of flexible packaging. BE’s technology enables the manufacture of multilayer films which extend the shelf life of food products, and conserves materials and energy.
In the past five years, BE aggregate sales and profitability have grown at double digit rates. From a small component company manufacturing and selling locally in 1973, BE has grown its customer base to more than fifty countries. BE employs 120 people worldwide.
